America, the Beautiful, and Propane People

Thomas Jefferson was 33 years old when he helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. His timeless words regarding the right to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” are still inspirational.

In 17 days, we’ll celebrate our country’s 250th birthday. We should also celebrate the daily contributions that propane makes to support these ideals, providing a better quality of life for all, as well as the propane people who make it happen.

The Pursuit of Happiness is Found in Giving

We have many wonderful people in the propane industry who rush in to help those in need or volunteer their time and resources. It happens so often (especially right after a natural disaster, when portable propane can be a life-saving source of energy) and often with such little fanfare that it’s easy to take it for granted.

Last week, for instance, we watched a short PGANE video of some propane friends cooking a meal for 500 Vermont National Guard members and their families before the soldiers deployed to the Middle East.

This is just one example of what makes our propane industry so special, and we thought you’d like to see it.

The Skinny

The United States will soon be 250 years old. That’s a great reason to celebrate. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on what makes America special. Many times, it’s the daily stuff that goes under the radar, with people helping people.

The short video above is a great example of our propane industry’s selflessness. You can feel the emotion in Manny Fletcher’s voice as he says, “You said something earlier about thanking us for doing this. But the couple hours we’re going to spend is nothing compared to what these guys are going to do.”

Have a Wonderful Father’s Day and a Happy 4th of July!
